AgeWays recently released a sixteen page report that highlights 47 technology solutions that can help caregivers of older or disabled adults. The report was created by a committee of individuals, consisting of older adults, agency staff, aging professionals and caregivers who reviewed various technologies including apps, websites and self help videos that provide a potential benefit to family members caring for an older loved one. The committee independently assessed the technology solutions and developed a rating system based on the ease of use, cost and information or assistance provided to help a caregiver.
According to Jim McGuire, Director of Research, Policy Development and Advocacy at AgeWays, “We searched the internet for a source that would compile and rate the many technologies available to help caregivers, but we could find no comprehensive source. Caregivers are constantly confronted with new challenges and searching for new solutions, often running into dead ends. We wanted to compile technologies that covered a broad range of topics so caregivers would have a good place to start, and quickly learn about the range of options available to them.”
A copy of the report can be downloaded from our website using the link below or interested individuals can call the agency at 800-852-7795 and ask for a hard copy of the report to be mailed to them, while supplies last.
