Phone Scam Targeting Seniors

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – November 24, 2015 –It has been reported to AgeWays that recorded calls are being made to local seniors with the recording stating it is the Area Agency on Aging I-B.  Consumers are than asked to press 1 if they would like to receive a free medical alert button.   These calls are NOT from Area Agency on Aging.  Remember, never give your personal information including Medicare number, Social Security number and credit card to anyone calling you.  This scam has been reported to the Office of The Attorney General. If you believe you have received a call like this  – or any call that you think may be a scam, please call your local police department’s nonemergency number and report it. If you are ever unsure of someone who is calling you, trust your instincts – hang up!
